"You can never run out of this money"

A notion that was burned into his consciousness at a very early age.

 

At the age of only 19, Darren Luck was thrust into the complicated world of investments.  He had to make some major life altering decisions, with no experience to guide him, for what would be a very scary and unknown future.  This was because two years earlier he was involved in a major car accident that left him with serious and permanent injuries that very nearly ended his life.  Following the accident he was awarded a modest insurance settlement that was intended as a potential pension to last a lifetime.

 

His recovery from that accident provided him with the motivation and literal obsession to prove that he would not just survive, but thrive. His hard work offered scholarships to American universities, ultimately landing at the University of Windsor to go on to become an All Canadian sprinter. Three years later he stood on the podium as a champion sprinter.

 

That was 39 year ago. Today Darren is a First Vice-President and Portfolio Manager at CIBC Private Wealth. Darren understands first hand the anxiety clients experience when approaching retirement, facing confusing choices and expecting to rely on a cookie cutter financial plan designed to provide income to some arbitrary life expectancy. “Who wants to worry about outliving their money. I want my clients to have the confidence to spend and enjoy their investment income without ever having to worry about outliving their money”.

 

Given his background, Darren’s calling was to create tools and resources with one goal in mind: Income producing solutions that will provide a safe, dependable and growing cash income to last not just a lifetime, but for several generations as well.

Darren is a bit like a cat with nine lives having survived a serious life threatening event, but he considers himself to be truly blessed. He is the proud father of two children (Sydney and Jack) and two dogs (a shih tzu and a border collie). He is an avid boater and very committed to health, fitness, longevity and personal development.  His early experience was the foundation for a never quit attitude and a commitment to excellence that he brings into every aspect of his life.
